KTM Aus Quad Champ

KTM Australia’s Ryan Lancaster has won the 2010 Australian Quad Motocross Championship

KTM Australia

KTM Australia’s Ryan Lancaster has won the 2010 Australian Quad Motocross Championship, contested at Southern Capes-Jindong near Busselton, Western Australia, on 16-17 October.

Lancaster, from Tom Price in WA, rode his KTM 450 SX to victory in the Pro Class after a consistent showing at the event run by the Southern Capes Motorcycle Club, finishing with 5-3-3-2-2 results to clinch the title over the five races contested during the weekend.

“I’m really happy to be able to win the championship again,” said Lancaster, who adds the 2010 title to his championship victory captured in 2008. “I had an injury coming into the event and my speed wasn’t quite there, but I dug deep with consistency on the day and it paid off in the end.”

There were two KTMs featuring on the podium in the Pro Class over the weekend with 22-year-old British rider Paul Holmes riding a KTM 505 SX to third place overall in his first ever Australian appearance.

Holmes finished with 2-2-2-1-DNF results on the day, a technical glitch ruling him out of championship contention in the final outing of the weekend. Despite the disappointment, the former European champion was pleased with the result.

“I arrived a week before the event and it’s been great in Australia,” Holmes said. “The track was really good and I enjoyed riding with a whole heap of new competitors. I really have to thank everybody who helped me, especially Ant and Lee-Anne Yewers from Berry Sweet Strawberries, plus my mum, dad and Lonestar Racing. Even though I didn’t win, I’m happy to take home a podium place and can hopefully come back in the future.”

Defending champion Chris Brenton finished fourth overall for the factory KTM ATV team to make it three orange machines in the top five, his 3-1-1-9-DNF results enough to earn him the position.

Adding to the team’s triumph was team technical advisor and Vets racer Len Pipiciello, who took a clean-sweep of five wins out of five starts in the category to claim his first national championship aboard a 505 SX.

Pipiciello, who operates ATV NRG, and the team are thankful to the team sponsors including KTM Australia, PEP Suspension, Berry Sweet Strawberries and Goldspeed ATV Tyres – instrumental products in the team’s success at this year’s national championship.
