YXZ Toughness Shines Through

Yamaha's pure sports YXZ1000R is proving that reliability as well as speed counts in the hotly contested world of off road racing.

YXZ Toughness Shines Through

Yamaha's ROV training instructor Dan McKenzie is currently setting the pace in the Australian SXS Championship Superlite A class.

After winning round one, McKenzie showed it was no fluke by taking out round two at Mount Kembla. In fact, round two saw an all Yamaha podium as fellow YXZ1000R driver Ivan Szkut kept McKenzie honest with a close second spot and Tim Liston of Canberra finished third.

The Yamaha YXZ1000R proved to be the most reliable vehicle at the meet and withstood all the punishment the Mount Kembla track had to offer. Big step up and step down jumps provided lots of carnage, however the YXZs finished every race with no damage.

"My Eastcoast Powersports service crew had an easy day," commented McKenzie. "All YXZs finished without any repairs on a very rough track," he added.

Dan McKenzie's form continued with another win, this time at the Gladstone Stadium Short Course last weekend. Dan won six out of nine races and once again placed first overall in Super Lite A. His YXZ1000R was the only Yamaha in a field of nine ROVs.

"The racing is door to door and the event included racing at night, which is the most exciting racing I've experienced this year," Dan exclaimed.

The Yamaha YXZ1000R extended its winning streak at the GORBA Avalon Mallee Shield Short Course. In preparation for the Finke Desert race brothers Jake and Aiden Williams pulled out all stops at the opening round of the Mallee Shield Series.

"The YXZ performed amazingly and we didn't have to touch it all day," Jake explained. "Four category wins, four class wins and third outright. We are really happy with the YXZ shakedown. Our focus is now on Finke," he added.

The result means three wins out of three races with Jake attributing his success to the Yamaha's reliability and superior engineering.

Yamaha's number one YXZ1000R dealer Justin Chisholm of Trooper Lu's Garage is also enjoying success aboard the triple cylinder pure sports machine. At the round two of the NSW State CAMs Official Offroad Championship in Dondingalong Chisolm's team faced some tough conditions with rain drenching the track. "It's in the tough conditions where the reliability of the YXZ1000R really shines."

Justin and the Trooper Lu team managed first in Superlite A. His finishing time would have placed him in second in Super Lite B Turbo class. And out of a total of 38 competitors including ex-pro rally drivers and trophy trucks, Justin finished fifth outright.
